Everyone remembers from grade school learning how Franklin Roosevelt went on the radio during the Great Depression in the 1930s, to calm a frightened nation, declaring in his confident, calming voice: “The only thing we have to fear is fear itself.”
Now, in this panic-stricken coronavirus moment, while President Trump is trying to deliver the same calming, positive message as Roosevelt with daily news briefings and experts working diligently to solve the pandemic, his message is being drowned out by the hysterical national television media – led by the shrill, shrieking CNN – who are screaming non-stop to stoke the flames of fear throughout the land.
One wonders in this time of national crisis what our former Commander-in-Chief Barack Obama is doing to calm the nation, the man who preached Hope and Change with his soaring oratory. Why, he’s holed up in his $8 million Georgetown, D.C., compound, directing his flunky governor and mayor in his home state of Illinois – as well as through his loyal CNN – to keep stoking the fear over a flu that is like most other flus, harmless to 99.9 percent of the population, in order to impose martial law in Chicago and the suburbs, and taking over government control of business and commerce and install as much socialism as he can.
This is, after all, an election year, and Barack wants the White House back in the worst way, so is adopting the great words of his former Chief of Staff and former bullying Mayor of Chicago Rahm Emanuel, who said “Never let a crisis go to waste.” Barack is also having his flunky mayor and governor employ the tactics of his mentor Saul Alinsky, who said: “The despair is there. Now its up to us to go in and rub raw the sores of discontent, galvanize them for radical social change.”
Take Barack’s governor of Illinois, J.B. “Tubby” Pritzker, the man who inherited $3.5 billion from the family who built the Hyatt Hotel fortune before J.B.’s generation carved it up into billion dollar sums with their lawyers. J.B. was anointed secretly by Barack to run for governor, as payment for his past loyalty and large donations to Barack’s campaign coffers and as long as he did what he was told.
J.B., who somehow missed out on the Pritzker brains, has the charisma of your average overweight turnip, but was able to buy the governor’s mansion last year with a barrage of ads, spending $168 million of his own inherited money in the largest self-funded governor’s campaign in U.S. history, and with the help of a Democratic electorate that has been beaten down by a hundred years of Chicago politics, and hardly go to the polls anymore.
J.B. was able to win the keys to the governor’s mansion in Springfield despite the news coming out during the campaign that he had saved $240,000 in annual property taxes by removing all the toilets from one of his mansions, all blessed by the County Assessor, which put him in the Pantheon of sleazy Chicago politicians, not an easy group to outdo.
J.B. is Barack’s guy 100 percent, and doesn’t do anything or mumble anything to reporters without first checking with Barack or Barack’s right brain Valerie Jarrett, looking constantly at his notes the way Barack did his beloved teleprompter. Barack and Valerie assembled J.B.’s staff for him, including putting Valerie’s 91 year old mother Barbara Bowman on the transition team, along with pal Marty Nesbitt, chairman of the Obama Foundation and president of the O’Hare Airport parking franchise.
When this coronavirus hit, even before it was declared a pandemic, J.B. led the nation’s governors out of the flaming media barn by announcing a state of emergency in Illinois, because “I want folks to understand: this is going to affect your daily life,” as if he knew something the rest of us didn’t.
He then proceeded to declare the first stay-at-home order in the country for all of Illinois and Chicago, putting the state and city on lockdown, for their own protection, of course, while shutting down businesses schools, restaurants and parks, even the massive Ford assembly plant on the South Side, and ordering people to stay in their homes. You can go get groceries and walk your dog, but better get back inside quick.
Then at one news conference, reading notes prepared for him, J.B. went before the cameras and pre-empted questions, he said, by telling everyone how angry he was at Trump for the president’s slow response to the national emergency, whose incompetence was making people more confused and afraid.
“I’m a pretty even-keeled guy, but even I’m finding it hard to contain my anger with Donald Trump’s response to this crisis,” J.B. read from his cue cards. “Apparently the only way to get the president of the United States to pay attention is to go on national television and make noise about it, which I won’t stop doing until we get what we need.”
That triggered a response from the Donald, which was Barack’s intent through J.B, with the current resident of the Oval Office tweeting back: ”@JBPritzker, Governor of Illinois, and a very small group of certain other Governors, together with Fake News @CNN & Concast (MSDNC), shouldn’t be blaming the Federal Government for their own shortcomings. We are there to back you up should you fail, and always will be!
That led to a tweet shot back under J.B.’s name. “You wasted precious months when you could’ve taken action to protect Americans & Illinoisans. You should be leading a national response instead of throwing tantrums from the back seat. Where were the tests when we needed them? Where’s the PPE? Get off Twitter & do your job.”
The next day, the Chicago Sun Times, which has become a socialist rag and Barack’s favorite, ran the headline, “Coronavirus vaults Pritzker into national spotlight, and Trump’s tweet proves it.”
So there you have it, the tubby first term governor goes from a corrupt, sleazy politician who got himself a free mansion and nice office in Springfield, to a statesman going tweet to tweet with the president. No mention, ever, that tens of thousands of middle class residents are leaving Illinois each year because of the high taxes, or the crushing burden of public employee pension obligations that are taking the state ever closer a financial abyss.
But this is, after all, about demonizing the Donald and stoking fear and despair for Barack, not bringing the nation together to solve the pandemic.
Then there’s Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot, the city’s first African American lesbian mayor and another Obama hack, who joined in the Trump demonizing with Pritzker as the pandemic got legs, tweeting: “@realDonaldTrump, dear Lord—please step up and be a leader. While you have been yammering about hoaxes and fake news, the COVID-19 pandemic has hit all over America. @GovPritzker and others have filled this country’s leadership gap. Lead or get out of their way.”
No mention that she runs a city on the precipice of bankruptcy, which taxes bungalow owners on their homes and everything that moves, and where there has been a black-on-black genocide going on since the death of Martin Luther King, where more than 35,000 mostly young black males have been murdered on the streets by mostly other fatherless young black males in a genuine genocide.
Mayor Lightfoot then used the pandemic panic to impose some of Barack’s socialist plan: leaning on hotels closed by the city to open their doors to quarantine virus victims, as well as to people who “cannot safely return home” during the crisis, to “better protect residents experiencing homelessness, who are more vulnerable to the spread of the disease.” In other words, a solution to the city’s affordable housing crisis, though no timeline on when those moved into the hotels will have to leave.
After all, Lightfoot said, ““I’m a black woman in America. I learned early on nobody was going to save me. I had to step up and make sure I took care of myself. That’s the approach we’re taking in the city of Chicago. We are stepping up, we are supporting our residents.”
Lightfoot’s dropping the race card came directly from Barack, who was coached by his handlers from the beginning of his national political career to always remind people of his blackness, to play on white guilt, in order to get more people on his side of big brother government. Both Lightfoot and Pritzker also want to let prisoners out of Cook County Jail, “to protect them from catching the coronavirus,” while helping Barack and his pal Bill “I hate (white) America” Ayers realize their dream of criminal justice reform.
Yesterday, Mayor Lori went on the air to warn people who left their apartments to take a stroll in the parks or along the lakefront in the nice weather that she would send the police after them if they didn’t go back home.
Then, of course there is Barack’s private news agency, CNN, which has taken the coronavirus panic to never before seen levels of national hysteria. Like with the Russian Collusion and Impeachment narratives they drove, they are on 24/7 pandemic hysteria control, which includes constant Trump bashing.
CNN even has its own physician, Dr. Sanjay Gupta, who had been considered for the position of Surgeon General by Barack in 2009 before given the CNN job, to cast doubt on everything Trump and his Coronovirus task force have to say, telling CNN viewers to “go about your daily lives as if you have the virus.” In other words, be afraid, be very afraid.
Barack’s CNN newsreaders shriek in daily. Yesterday, among the dozens of pandemic hysteria stories was Jake Tapper’s, who warned: “How many lives affected by Trump’s ‘false sense of security,’” and others that blared “NY doctor delivers dire warning about pandemic,” and “Trump wants America reopened by Easter. That could send the US economy into depression,” and on and on and fearfully on.
No mention of the information, buried in one story on the internet that, “for most people, the coronavirus causes mild or moderate symptoms, such as fever and cough that clear up in two to three weeks. For some, especially older adults and people with existing health problems, it can cause more severe illness, including pneumonia, or death.” But don’t tell that to television viewers, because that would get between them and their fear.
To view this rationally, as the media once did, would mean that we didn’t have to shut the schools and churches and workplaces, which gave people a sense of comfort and security, even in times of crisis. Now we must listen to the fascism of the media and government officials which have shut down commerce and isolated everyone with their television sets.
Maybe FDR, had he lived today, would have said: “The only thing we have to fear is CNN and the rest of the media.”
Or Barack’s political agenda.
