As the nation, or at least CNN and the New York Times, anticipates the upcoming Mueller report on Russian collusion, James Comey, the fired FBI director who is still a leading shill to bash the Donald, came out this week with an Op-Ed in the once respected NYTimes, followed by a barrage of moral support on CNN.
“The country is eagerly awaiting the special counsel Robert Mueller’s report,” Comey or whoever wrote the Op-Ed for him began. “Many people know what they want it to say — what they feel it simply must say — namely, that Donald Trump is a criminal who should be removed from office. Or that he is completely innocent of all wrongdoing.
“But not everyone knows what it “must” say. Even though I believe Mr. Trump is morally unfit to be president of the United States, I’m not rooting for Mr. Mueller to demonstrate that he is a criminal. I’m also not rooting for Mr. Mueller to “clear” the president. I’m not rooting for anything at all, except that the special counsel be permitted to finish his work, charge whatever cases warrant charging and report on his work.”
Well, by telling us that he really doesn’t care what the Mueller Report finds, he was able in the first to paragraphs to establish that the Donald is “a criminal who should be removed from office,” is “morally unfit to be president of the United States.” So much for non-hysterical opinion piece, just like an average news day on CNN.
The real unvarnished truth is that Comey is the one who is morally unfit to hold any office in government and was justifiably fired. He is also a criminal and should be in jail, or at least under indictment.
But he is CNN’s and the New York Times’ lap dog now, and must continue to do their bidding to keep the Trump bashing going, and to keep the focus away from his puppet master and another criminal, Barack Obama.
For it was under Obama that Comey sold his soul and any honor or integrity he might have had, by following our Hope and Change President’s orders during the 2016 election and doing what he could from inside the FBI and Justice Department to both (1) keep Hillary’s campaign alive by stifling the investigation of her emails, and (2) by trying to derail Trump’s campaign and later, his Presidency, all directed by the Barack and leaked along the way to CNN and the New York Times, the main Obama news outlets then and now.
It was under Obama’s Attorney General Loretta Lynch and with Comey as head of the FBI, when the Justice Department during the 2016 campaign directed the FBI to set an unusually high threshold for prosecuting Clinton, effectively ensuring from the outset that she would not be charged.
Then, prior to a July 5, 2016 press conference saying Hillary should not face criminal charges, Comey’s FBI investigators were “convinced” to remove the term “gross negligence” to describe Clinton’s actions (regarding classified material) from his prepared text. Comey also has said that the DOJ and Lynch, removed the legal requirement of “intent,” to commit a crime which further ruled out the possibility of applying “gross negligence.” Later, under Comey’s and Lynch’s and the White House’s guidance, Hillary’s “investigation” was reduced to a “matter,” so she was scot free to pursue the presidency.
But then there was Trump, who despite being elected in a fair democratic election, still had to be taken down, and Comey was directed to help, with all indications that direction was still coming from Obama. Trump understood that Comey was not a friend, or even an objective FBI employee loyal to his presidency, so he was fired. But that didn’t stop Comey from leaking anti-Trump classified documents – some labeled “secret” and “confidential” to CNN and the New York Times, which is another felony.
But for his continued anti-Trump loyalty, Comey was rewarded with a million dollar book deal for a ghostwritten tome entitled interestingly enough: “A Higher Loyalty,” and going on CNN and other Obama loyal news outlets (which are most) and declaring over and over that Trump was “morally unfit” to be president.
Interesting that other Obama loyalists who tried to stop Trump in 2016, including former CIA director John Brennan and former Director of National Intelligence James Clapper, who both lied to congress, also got big book deals and are consulting for CNN.
But now, with the impending release of the Mueller Report, which at least to now has not reported any Trump collusion with the Russians, which CNN still expects but which must still use to cast doubt on Trump, has along with the NY Times dragged up Comey as our moral arbiter of truth and caster of doubt on Trump.
“I have no idea whether the special counsel will conclude that Mr. Trump knowingly conspired with the Russians in connection with the 2016 election or that he obstructed justice with the required corrupt intent. I also don’t care. I care only that the work be done, well and completely. If it is, justice will have prevailed and core American values will have been protected at a time when so much of our national leadership has abandoned its commitment to truth and the rule of law.
“Wondering is fine,” Mr. Comey concluded in his Op-Ed. “But hoping for a particular answer is not. The rule of law depends upon fair administration of justice, which is rooted in complete and unbiased investigation. We are best served when an investigation finds all relevant facts and illuminates the fullest possible view of the truth.”
Which leadership and truth and investigation are you talking about, Mr. Comey? Trumps and Mueller’s? Or you and our former 44th President, who owns your soul?
And yes, whoever wrote Comey’s Op-Ed, concluded with an appropriate ending on what its really all about:
“Critics of Mr. Trump should hope for something much harder to distort, or to nurse as a grievance, than an impeachment. We need a resounding election result in 2020, where Americans of all stripes, divided as they may be about important policy issues — immigration, guns, abortion, climate change, regulation, taxes – (gosh, those were all Obama issues, weren’t they?) — take a moment from their busy lives to show that they are united by something even more important: the belief that the president of the United States cannot be a chronic liar who repeatedly attacks the rule of law. Then we can get back to policy disagreements.”
Because it’s all about who has the power of the Oval Office, not being objective and honest.
